System Administrator /CTO at Vortech inc
September 2000 - May 2011I always had a wide range on responsibilities at Vortech Inc. as I helped start the company as the CTO. I was also responsible for hiring, new technologies, network maintenance & security, hardware, operating systems and management of finances and reported directly to the partners of the company. I worked with all 3rd party vendors on routers, switches, servers, hardware and software. Selected Highlights: o Company Planning - As this was a new company I designed and implemented the network, hardware and software. I grew the company to 25 employees, 500+ servers and over $2 million a year profit in under 3 years from the ground up using the newest technologies available. o Customer Service - We took pride in our customer service be it ticket system or phone support. With over 250,000 direct clients this could be a challenge but we have had great success and very high reviews over the years under my management. o Disaster Recovery Planning - Designing and planning for just about any disaster using multiple data centers and redundant backup systems, we never had a failure of hardware that we were not able to fully recover. I was very preventative in making sure any hardware or software issues were solved ahead of time. I had less than .5% failure rate of live systems. o Telecommunication Upgrades - We started with T1's in 2000 and upgraded over the years to multiple Gige fiber. I planned all upgrades with minim downtime to no downtime. o Technology - Managed a cluster of 500 Servers using Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows 2008 + R2 with IIS, CentOS, FreeBSD, VMWare, including Web servers using IIS and apache, SQL servers using mySQL and Microsoft SQL.
